UCI's Tomo No Kai's Culture Night 2011 Jodaiko playing Onore No SenjouFrom the program:"Composed by Christine Truong (2011). 'Onore no Senjou,' which transla Tomo No Kai, roughly translating into 'circle of friends', is a student organization that was established at the University of California, Irvine in 1977. They are a cultural and social club that explore the Japanese and Japanese-American cultures through weekly events, programs, and meetings on campus as well as their involvement with the Originally named "Tomo No Taiko" (meaning "association of taiko"), Jodaiko's origins lie in UCI's Japanese-American student group, Tomo No Kai (meaning "association of friends"); it is often referred to as Tomo No Kai's sister group. Tomo No Taiko was founded in 1992 by Peggy Kamon and David Shiwota, both integral members in the Tomo No Kai Tomo No Kai at the University of California, Irvine strives to bring the Japanese/Japanese-American culture to interested individuals on campus and to members of the surrounding community. Every year, Tomo No Kai presents the Cultural Night, a student-run performance that celebrates many talented members as we highlight different aspects of the Dec 06, 2012 Presented in collaboration with UCI Tomo No Kai (Circle of Friends) student organization.
